Retractable Tapper and Thruster

Project Overview

The retractable tapper and thruster concept extends facade inspection robots with a compact impact-testing module. It is designed for robotic hammer testing workflows where the tapping tool must deploy only when the robot reaches the inspection point, then retract during movement to protect the mechanism.

The project focuses on mechanical packaging, modular robot hardware, and inspection reliability for high-rise facade testing, with attention to robust deployment on construction robotics platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Designed a modular retractable tapping mechanism for facade inspection and robotic hammer testing.
  • Considered compact packaging, tool protection, and integration with cable-driven inspection robots.
  • Explored thrust and impact-tool layouts for safer, faster high-rise facade inspection workflows.
